Beyond The Classroom

In addition to a comprehensive individualised curriculum, Parkwood Green offers a range of learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
An extensive school camping and excursions program features camps for years 3 to 5, tours to Canberra for year 6's, excursions to Scienceworks, the Zoo and the Botannical Gardens ..... just to name a few!
A variety of lunchtime clubs exist at school that children can voluntarily join - these include Kids Club, gardening clubs, card swapping clubs, dance clubs and a host of other positive activities.
In addition, an active Student Representative Council organises numerous activities and events throughout the year.

COMPASS enables teachers and parents to communicate on all aspects of school life. Families can use COMPASS for a variety of things including viewing evidence of student learning, checking homework requirements, entering absences, making payments and giving consent to events.
COMPASS is our most recent commitment to involving parents, carers and families in the learning of their young students. COMPASS is now used in replace of hard copy notes to communicate to families.
All parents at Parkwood Green have their own personalised logon provided by the school. Lost or forgotten your logon? Please contact the General Office.

Smooth Foundation Transition

Transition from Kindergarten to Foundation is something we take very seriously at Parkwood Green. As a result we dedicate considerable resources and time to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.
- An initial school tour will be held with the family in term 1,2 and 3 setting the scene for a friendly and welcoming experience.
- An Information Evening for enrolled families late in term 3 provides all the information you need to know.
- A four session transition program in Term 4 gives children a chance to experience school in the company of other kinder children.
- An Orientation Day in December allows children the chance to meet their future Foundation teacher and classmates and spend time in their future room.

Cyber Safety

Parkwood Green Primary School is committed to the education of ‘Cyber Safety’, providing students with the necessary skills to become more aware and able to manage the risks of using the Internet appropriately. Our goal is to enable students to have a safer experience when using the Internet both at school and at home.
For students, the Internet has become an important tool for learning, researching, creating and communicating across a global setting. With more and more schools using ICT to enhance learning from a much earlier age, we need to make sure that we are educating our students of the risks that are involved and provide them with strategies for using the Internet safely.

Parkwood Green Primary School highly values the many volunteers that assist in our classrooms with sports events, camps, excursions, school concerts, reading, Kitchen Garden and other events and programs. Having so many enthusiastic volunteer family members and members of the wider community enables us to further develop student learning.

Our parent community is heavily involved in the school’s life and shares a commitment to its future development. The school has a very active and supportive School Council and members of our school community volunteer their time through our sub-committee meetings. There is a climate of mutual goodwill, trust and co-operation, based on a clear and unified purpose.
